Walt Disney World Reminds Passholders About Impending Magic Kingdom Park Pass Changes

Walt Disney World is reminding Annual Passholders that their Park Pass reservation requirements for Magic Kingdom will change on July 20 with the debut of “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away.”

Disney Passholder Reservation Rules Changing

Disney announced the change in May, but are sending reminder notifications via the My Disney Experience app this week.

Since January 2023, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders have been able to enter any of the four theme parks without a reservation after 2 p.m. — with the exception of Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays.

Starting on July 20, that exception extends to every day at Magic Kingdom. Passholders will need a theme park reservation for Magic Kingdom or must Park Hop from another park in order to enter Magic Kingdom on any day, at any time of day, including after 2 p.m.

Disney expects an uptick in late-night attendance at the castle park with the debut of “Disney Starlight” on July 20, so the change will help them control capacity. “Disney Starlight” is the first year-round nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom since the Main Street Electrical Parade ended in 2016.

Passholders will still be able to visit EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom after 2 p.m. without a reservation. After Passholders enter one of these parks, they can then Park Hop to Magic Kingdom, if it has not reached capacity.

There will also still be “Good-to-Go” days, on which Passholders can visit a select park at any time of day without a reservation.
