Masquerade: Dance with Death

A small, ornate stage with stairs sits in a Scare Zone near shops and palms at Universal Studios Florida.

Thanks to these newly-installed sets, we can confirm the Masquerade: Dance with Death scare zone will be in the Hollywood section of the park. Here is how that scare zone is described:

You’re invited to a masquerade ball where bloodthirsty vampires lurk behind ornate disguises. When their masks fall, you’ll become their prey.

There are now three highly-themed stages along the street. This one is near Schwab’s Pharmacy. It has reddish-brown wood-style edges and yellow-gold accent panels. On the back of each stage is a stained glass-style image.

A large, ornate closed door display promotes Nocturnal Circus at Halloween Horror Nights 34, Universal Studios Florida.

This fake stained glass is across two doors. This one features a black bird with wings spread wide.

A-frame signs on each stage let guests know this is part of Halloween Horror Nights construction. There are also signs reminding guests “Do Not Climb” the sets.

A Halloween Horror Nights Scare Zone sign stands before a weathered stone facade on a city street.

This stage, outside the Ralph’s facade, looks like dirty marble. It has a railing in the center, curving in front of the stained glass doors.

This stained glass depicts a bat in shades of black and orange.

The stained glass images are also visible on the backs of the sets.

A decorative scare zone stage with a Halloween Horror Nights sign stands before The Darkroom at Universal Studios Florida.

The last set is outside The Dark Room facade. It has the same wood finishes as the first. It has a completed floor, however, featuring white and black tiles.

A stained glass window depicts a menacing purple gargoyle, echoing the eerie vibe of Halloween Horror Nights.

The stained glass image is a crouched gargoyle.

The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane

Three rustic wooden structures form a Scare Zone with stained glass windows on pink pavement at Universal Studios Florida.

The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane scare zone will be outside Animal Actors On Location! Here is its description:

Travel down a spooky winding path to a mysterious home, where trick-or-treaters are transformed into feral felines. Be careful or you’ll be next.

A stained glass window with a swirling tree design stands in a Scare Zone at Universal Studios Florida.

This set is made up of wooden planks, creating three structures and fencing. Each of the structures features a stained glass design with a hidden cat’s face. If you look at the design upside-down, you’ll also see the cat.

Though there are A-frame signs explaining the set is part of Halloween Horror Nights and asking guests not to climb anything, the set is not blocked off, so guests can walk through it.

Wooden fence with an open gate, shaded by trees; resembles Scare Zone Sets at Universal Studios Florida.

There are some openings covered in scrim — probably where a scareactor will pop out to frighten guests. There are scratches across the wood in various spots.

Broken wooden planks with a tear in the burlap backing, hinting at a shadowy Scare Zone at Universal Studios Florida.

Themed burlap also has tears in it. Some of the fence pieces are splattered with white paint.

A wooden fence with a broken gate stands near trees on reddish ground, setting a perfect Scare Zone scene.

Some of the windows have Plexiglass coverings.

A tree grows through a circular grate, like a Scare Zone at Universal Studios Florida, surrounded by wooden panels and fences.

Instead of removing trees or constructing the set elsewhere, Universal built the set around the existing trees, so they feel like part of the scare zone.

Fear Factor Stage

Over at the Fear Factor stage, we saw some familiar striped, dotted, and diamond-patterned bunting hanging from the ceiling. This is the same bunting from Nightmare Fuel: Nocturnal Circus. We don’t know if this means the show will return for another year or if Universal is just reusing set pieces. Universal has yet to announce nighttime entertainment for Halloween Horror Nights this year.

Halloween Horror Nights 34 is on select nights from August 29 through November 2. Tickets are on sale now.
