Magic Kingdom has officially announced that Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away will be soft opening to guests at 9 p.m. on July 18, ahead of the parade’s official debut on July 20. As a part of the soft opening, it appears some of the parade’s new merchandise has also arrived in Magic Kingdom a little early.

This new light-up bubble wand is shaped like Mickey’s gloved hand holding a long light stick, similar in appearance to the blade of a lightsaber. There is a hole in the very tip of the light stick where the bubbles emerge. As one important note, a Cast Member warned us that the first use of the wand takes about a minute before the bubbles will actually appear, since they have to travel up the whole length of the wand.

The handle of the wand is a dark shade of blue with the official wordmark for Disney Starlight printed in silver, alongside a swirl of stardust. The bottom orb of the handle is clear and holds the liquid for the bubbles.

There is a compartment on the back of the handle for replacing batteries, though it comes with batteries already inside when purchased at Magic Kingdom. There is a switch for turning it on or off, and the wand will operate both with and without bubbles. The up section of the switch is for bubbles plus lights, the middle is off, and the bottom is for lights only.

Mickey’s glove is its usual white and black colors. The light-up tube section is mostly translucent for the colored lights, but it does have a subtle silver star pattern that is similar to the stardust around the wordmark. There is a button on the handle for changing the light colors. The lights can change to most colors of the rainbow, including red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue, violet, and white.

What makes this wand interactive is that if you point your wand at another guest’s wand while holding the light button, it will cause their wand to change color.

A cart full of toy lightsabers is pushed along a theme park path with people and a trash bin nearby.

The wands are currently being sold from the movable carts that Cast Members push along the parade route in Magic Kingdom. Disney Starlight will begin on Main Street, U.S.A. and end in Frontierland.
