New Grand Floridian Resort Lobby Wallpaper Revealed During Construction

The new wallpaper for the reimagined lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been revealed during ongoing construction.

A paved walkway curves by palm trees, sand, and a white gazebo with red roof near large resort buildings.

Crews continue to work on exterior refurbishment projects at the resort. This small building and surrounding walkways are blocked by white construction walls.

Crew members appeared to be repainting the white walls and doors.

Two women walk into a bright, elegant lobby with a white curtain and double glass doors.

Previously, the right side of this entryway was blocked. Now, the left is blocked, and the right side is back open with new wallpaper and a new wall sconce.

The old wallpaper was the same beige striped wallpaper that is in the lobby past the entrance doors, while the old wall sconce held a pair of shaded lamps. The new wallpaper features a white and gray damask floral pattern. This may replace the striped wallpaper throughout the lobby.

The new wall sconce hides the light behind a thin cylinder mounted with golden hardware.

On the closed-off side of the entryway, a crew member was working on a platform. The wallpaper has been removed from this side.

We could see crew members working in the Garden View Tea Room. The tea room never reopened following the COVID-19 shutdown. Disney announced it would be part of the lobby’s refurbishment, although it didn’t share details of the work.

The tea room’s interior windows are covered by see-through shades. Crew members on ladders were working on the room’s ceiling.

Grand Floridian Check-In Area

Elegant interior with large arched windows, cream walls, and a decorative wall sconce lighting the room.

The lobby’s check-in area is being updated, with check-in moved to desks in the center of the lobby. Behind the construction walls, we saw a new steel framework around two of the tall windows in the check-in area.

The wallpaper was stripped from this area early on. A large section of wall paneling has been removed since our last construction update. Columns were previously removed from the walls, leading to the thin gaps between sections of paneling.

Looking up, there are also ceiling tiles missing from above the check-in area. There are exposed pipes, vents, and wires.

Birdcage Bar

Foundation work began for the new birdcage-inspired bar last month. This replaces the actual giant birdcage that used to sit in the lobby. Crews have added additional pipes and support elements to the foundation.

There were previously only a few white pipes in the dirt. Now there are red and gray cables, and short supports around the concrete edges. The rectangular steel element has been moved during construction.

A pile of dirt nearby is covered by a tarp. An opening in the floor we’ve previously seen is covered by carpet, but outlined with strips of tape.

Between the curtains, we could see some carpet that appears to have been torn up.

The PhotoPass area on the second floor is also currently blocked by curtains. A crew member on a ladder was painting the wall in the corner.
