Disney has revealed a new themed map installed next to Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts.
New Stormalong Bay Themed Map

A teaser for the new map was first shared on Instagram by Walt Disney Imagineering. The new Stormalong Bay themed map is located toward the outer edge of Stormalong Bay, across the short bridge that leads toward the shipwreck-themed waterslide. An image of the pool with the new sign spot marked by an X was shared as part of the Instagram post.

The map is displayed inside a wooden sign frame stuck into the nearby garden area, just outside the metal railing that circles this side of the pool. The sign is made of pale wood with ropes wrapped around the bottom legs.

The map is labeled “The Legend of Stormalong Bay” and includes a version of the pool drawn in the style of an old sailor’s treasure map. The paper is new, but it is colored in shades of tan to make it look weathered.

The text on the right side of the map is what the Imagineers describe as a “sea shanty” telling the story of Stormalong Bay. The text reads:
Once upon a stormy sea, A salty tar roamed wild and free.
He stood two hundred barrels tall, With shoulders like an old brick wall.
His arms were fifty krakens strong. This sea dog’s name? Old Stormalong.
A myth he seemed to those on shore, From Hurricane Hanna to the Commodore,
Until one bleak and blustery day, He ran aground upon this bay.
The shaken shore-folk wailed and screeched, “The giant’s real — and wrecked our beach!”
But clever Hanna kept her head, As all her neighbors shook with dread,
“Not all is lost. Here’s my advice: Let’s build ourselves a paradise.
Come lend a hand, Old Stormy, friend! We’ll give this tale a happy end.”
And build they did, without delay, The lush lagoons of Stormalong Bay.

The Instagram post from Disney included a few additional design details, such as the fact that the bay drawn on the map is the same shape as the actual pool when viewed from the sky, just with some added details to make it look historical. Key elements of the pool, such as Hurricane Hanna’s and windmill building, are included as well.

Stormalong Bay is the 3-acre pool area that is shared between Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts. The pool recently reopened in June after being closed for an extended six-month refurbishment that involved resurfacing the interior and replacing sections of the deck. Hurricane Hanna’s Bar and Grill also reopened following the refurbishment and is now back to its usual operating hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
