Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs has a new item called Mickey and Minnie Cookie Art with Edible Paint, and we have a review of both the cookie and the overall experience.

Amorette’s Patisserie is located in Disney Springs, between Levi’s and the entrance to World of Disney. The popular dessert location often has seasonal sweets related to the month, but this new offering is a little different.

A display promoting the new cookie art was placed on top of the bakery counter. The sign on the right has a little more information about what is included, while the left case has the actual cookies.
Mickey and Minnie Cookie Art with Edible Paints – $19
Create-your-own Mickey and Minnie Cookie using Edible Watercolor Paints. Kit includes 1 Mickey Cookie, 1 Minnie Cookie, 1 Painter’s Palette Cookie, paint brushes, and water to activate the paints.

Our review of this new treat is two-fold, because before eating the cookies, there is also the experience of painting the cookies. The cookies come as part of a complete painting kit, which is packaged inside an Amorette’s-branded box for easy traveling.

Inside the box, you will find all of the tools needed to decorate your cookies. There is also a simple directions sheet. The directions sheet includes the wordmark for Cool Kid Summer, since this new snack is part of the overall summer offerings.

There are a total of six listed steps:
- Step 1: Open box
- Step 2: Set up tray
- Step 3: Dip brush in water
- Step 4: Smear brush in paint
- Step 5: Paint
- Step 6: Enjoy all 3 cookies!

First, this small plastic container includes the water needed to make the paint. This is literally just water in a cup, which sounds lame, but is very nice to have if you bring the cookies somewhere to decorate and drinkable water is not conveniently located nearby.

The kit includes a trio of differently-colored paintbrushes, so you could easily buy one kit to share between multiple people. It also included some paper napkins, just in case of a spill.

The paint palette cookie is wrapped in its own plastic bag to keep it separate from the other items. The palette is white with dollops of purple, red, yellow, green, blue, and teal “paint.”

The other two cookies are shaped like classic Mickey icons. These two are wrapped together in the same plastic pouch.

These cookies are also plain white, with the outline of Minnie on one and Mickey on the other. Both characters are wearing their usual cartoon outfits.

The box included at the bottom of the kit is big enough to lay out everything without touching, so you have plenty of space to work on your artistic creation.

As outlined in the directions, guests are supposed to mix the water in the cup and use it to soften the dollops of “paint” on the palette. Once a little water is added, the colors soften and create an effect similar to watercolor.

The color can then be transferred to the Mickey and Minnie cookies, similar to a coloring sheet.

The watercolor nature of the paint makes it difficult to get really detailed, but the effect of painting the characters is still very cute.

Overall, we thought the experience of decorating the cookies was great. You get everything you need to complete the process inside the box, even the water, so you can easily Mobile Order the kit and take it to go. We could imagine a family with children ordering a kit and taking it back to a hotel for a relaxing afternoon. Plus, it comes with three cookies and three brushes, making it perfect for sharing.

However, we did also try the cookies after decorating them, since they are still supposed to be a snack at the end. That part was not so great. The cookies are your standard theme-park dense sugar cookie covered in tough white fondant. They are very dry and have minimal flavor. Plus, the colored water does not really soak into the fondant, but it just sits over the top. So when you go to take a bite after eating, the whole top part of your lip will be stained by the “paint.”
