‘This is Nothing Like Avatar’: First Teaser Trailer for Pixar’s ‘Hoppers’

Disney and Pixar have released the first trailer for “Hoppers,” an original film releasing in theaters next March.

‘Hoppers’

Two animated scientists stand with a fluffy, surprised-looking orange animal on a table in a lab setting exclaiming "This is nothing like Avatar!"

In “Hoppers,” scientists have created technology that allows human consciousness to “hop” into lifelike robotic animals, so they can communicate better — “like Avatar,” the film’s protagonist, Mabel, notes.

“This is Nothing Like Avatar”

The exclamation “This is nothing like Avatar”, is a fun phrase used in the first teser trailer for the upcoming film.

Animal lover Mabel (voiced by Piper Curda) hops into a robot beaver and will “uncover mysteries within the animal world that are beyond anything she could have imagined.”

A smiling cartoon beaver stands on a lit-up device, with the text "Human. Nature. Hoppers, in theaters March 6.

“In ‘Hoppers’, the question we’re answering is: ‘What if we could understand and communicate with the animal world?’” said director Daniel Chong. “Our main character, Mabel, gets to discover the animal kingdom as an animal, which can be weird and often hilarious. Mabel undercover in the animal world leads to a wild, roller coaster ride of a movie, with all the heart you expect from a classic Pixar film. It’s going to be so much fun to watch in the theater; I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

“Hoppers” is produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle and also features the voices of Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm. It will be in theaters on March 6, 2026. Watch the trailer below.

A former Pixar artist had previously said that the team behind “Hoppers” was told to downplay its messaging of environmentalism. Time will tell if that report is true.
