A new report says that a woman was arrested after being accused of hurting a teenager over a parade spot at Walt Disney World.
Woman Fights a Teenager Over a Parade Spot
According to deputies in Orange County, a 17-year-old girl was injured during an altercation in Magic Kingdom on Monday, July 21, when guests were gathering at Cinderella Castle to watch the Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away nighttime parade. The new entertainment offering made its official debut the day before, on July 20.
The 17-year-old reported that she was standing on the sidewalk when Martha Lucia Zapata-Echeverri put her hand on her in an attempt to make room to stand. The victim told investigators that she told Zapata-Echeverri not to touch her in Spanish.
According to a report, the victim moved back to allow another guest to pass by, then Zapata-Echeverri allegedly grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to the side, “causing a bruise and abrasion.” Zapata-Echeverri said that she was “following her daughter” to get to the front of the crowd to view the parade, and claims the teen was pushing into her, saying it was “‘her spot.'”
Deputies shared that Zapata-Echeverri demonstrated how she pushed the teen back with her left arm, but was unclear when explaining the victim’s nail marks. The report cites that the 17-year-old was the only person injured in the altercation, and there were no independent witnesses or surveillance footage of the event.
Zapata-Echeverri was arrested and taken to Orange County jail on a child abuse charge.
