Disney is working on removing the final puddles of water from Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom.

A wooden cabin with a porch and shed sits by muddy water, surrounded by trees and construction equipment.

Draining began soon after Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island closed. By last week, Rivers of America was just puddles.

There are now hoses and other equipment throughout the “river” to pump out the last drops of water.

A truck is parked in the river, near Superstition Bridge. The Liberty Square Riverboat track remains, running along the center of the trench.

Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America will be replaced by a Cars expansion to Frontierland. There will be a river and water features, which might reuse some of the Rivers of America structure, but the riverboat track will be removed.

Before permanently closing, Rivers of America was periodically drained for maintenance, most recently in 2020.
