The National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida has issued heat advisories for Central and Eastern Florida, including Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort.
Central Florida Heat Advisories
The heat advisories are in effect on Thursday, August 14, 2025, until 7 p.m. EDT. Affected counties include Orange, Osceola, Volusia, Brevard, Lake, Seminole, Indian River, Martin, Saint Lucie, and Okeechobee.
Universal Orlando Resort is located in Orange County, and Walt Disney World is in Orange and Osceola counties.
The NWS predicts heat index values of 105°F to 109°F (40.5°C to 42.7°C). The heat index is the “feels-like” temperature with relative humidity taken into account.
Hot temperatures and high humidity can cause heat illnesses. Anyone in the affected areas should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun when possible. If you do have to go outside, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
In the case of heat stroke, call 911. Symptoms include (but are not limited to) confusion, agitation, nausea, vomiting, flushed skin, rapid breathing, and a racing heart rate.
