According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Erin is now a Category 5 storm. While the storm is not expected to strongly impact Florida, the Disney Cruise Line has made some itinerary updates.

Hurricane Erin Update

Category 5 Hurricanes can sustain winds of up to 160 miles per hour. Hurricane Erin is currently not forecasted to impact the east coast of Florida, although there will still be a significant risk of dangerous surf and rip currents along western Atlantic beaches next week. The predicted path of the hurricane has it curving away from land to the north, between Bermuda and the east coast of the U.S.
At 11:20 a.m. AST, the hurricane was located near latitude 19.7 North, longitude 62.8 West, about 105 miles / 170 km east of the northern Anguilla. It has maximum sustained winds of 160 mph and is moving west at 17 mph.
Hurricane Erin and Disney Cruise Line

Guests on a Disney Treasure sailing leaving Port Canaveral today, Saturday, August 16, received communications about itinerary changes earlier this week. Stops at Tortola and St. Thomas have been replaced with visits to Cozumel, George Town, and Falmouth. The cruise is still planning to visit Castaway Cay on Friday. Tortola and St. Thomas Port Adventures will be automatically canceled and guests will have the option to book Port Adventures at the new destinations.
Whether or not the storm hits Florida, the state will likely experience rainier days than normal next week. Outdoor attractions and entertainment at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort could be effected depending on local weather conditions.
