Boo to you, a boo to you, a boo boo boo boo boo boo boo boo boo to you and you…

Happy Halloween!

Yes, it’s officially Halloween season on both coasts! I got to experience both, in the same week!
So why not share some tricks and treats?

Speaking of treats, Wendy and I completed all of the Magic Kingdom daytime Halloween food reviews. If you haven’t read or watched them yet, please check them out.

I’ll start with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

This is my 12th year covering this party. Time flies! I like the Halloween party more than the Christmas party. I even bought the Party Pass when they had it in 2019.

First trick: List what you would like to do during the party BEFORE the day of your event.

If you would like to go see Jack and Sally at the Town Square Theater, I would line up by the Magic Kingdom entrance by 3 pm at the latest. It sounds crazy, but this is the fastest way to meet Jack and Sally without waiting for over an hour during your party time.

I lined up by the entrance early enough, got my wristband and map by 3:45 p.m., and was already in the Jack and Sally meet and greet line by 3:53 p.m.

We met them and were out by 4:02 p.m. Some people think it is insane to wait an hour by the entrance, but I would rather wait before the party starts and not waste my party hours.

Grabbing My Treat Bag

We went to the candy trail to get candy and a bag, plus we got to see Mother Gothel. She’s the new addition for 2025!

Right after that, we grabbed the new Jack Skellington popcorn bucket from the popcorn cart by the hub.

Next, I checked out the party-exclusive merchandise at Emporium. Afterward, I started to wait for the Mickey and Minnie meet and greet. I got in line around 5:30 p.m., but the actual meet and greet started a little bit before 7 p.m.

Hello with Mickey and Minnie

Again, we were out really quickly and finished the meeting by 7:01 p.m. Some people think you can’t do many of the party experiences between 4 to 7 p.m., but if you know how to use the time wisely, you can accomplish a lot of the main activities.

I had Halloween Party food review duty starting at 7 p.m., so I couldn’t catch the first parade or castle show.

But, I got to go see Pluto! He’s got a Halloween party-exclusive dog collar.

During the fireworks, I grabbed a spot on Main Street, U.S.A., for second Mickey’s Boo to You! parade. Why did I get a spot on Main Street?

Dance Party with Max

People in costumes dance on a lively street at Oogie Boogie Bash, with festive lights and a crowd in the background.

Because I CAN DANCE WITH MAX! If you would like to dance with Max, you need to be standing somewhere by Main Street. You can’t be standing by the train station or Town Square Theater, because the dancing usually does not extend that far. If you just want see them and not participate, then the Town Square Theater and train station work too. By the time you reach Cinderella Castle or Adventureland, you cannot see Max at all.

After the parade was over, I made my way to watch the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular.

I couldn’t stop singing along. This is my favorite castle show. We left the park by 12:45 a.m., though I stopped by the gym before diving into my bed.

Just 12 hours later, I was already standing at MCO and making my way to Disneyland!

Let’s talk about Oogie Boogie Bash now.

Oogie Boogie Bash

I think this is my third or fourth time is coming to Oogie Boogie Bash. In my opinion, OBB was better than Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, at least until this year. Yes, I said it.

There are a few reasons for my changed opinion, which we will go over momentarily.

I visited Disney California Adventure earlier in the day since I had to review a Mickey-shaped chili bowl.

We were kept waiting at the party check-in location at first. The Cast Member told us they’ll start checking-in at 3 p.m., and you can get in line starting at 2:45 p.m. When I went back around 2:40 p.m., however, the line was already open.

I got my wristband and went to get in line for the Sanderson Sisters’ meet and greet at its new location. This year, the meet and greet moved to Pixar Pier.

More Character Meet and Greets

The Sanderson Sisters’ meet and greet always has the longest line of the event characters, usually starting as early as 4 p.m. This year, the line started to form around 4:45 p.m. Maybe due to a location change?

We got too lucky, and Minnie didn’t show up for our meet and greet. I couldn’t be more upset. Also, since the characters are so popular, guests can only have one picture taken during the meet and greet, like at Tokyo Disney Resort. It can be a group picture, or just a character, or a selfie.

A person in a Maleficent costume stands on a fantasy float at Mickey's Not So Scary Party, surrounded by green and purple.

We were done with them by 6:03 p.m., so we walked to the Maleficent meet and greet. She had a long line, since she hadn’t started welcoming guests at 6 p.m. on the dot. The line moved fairly quickly though, because she is located on a trail.

Again, I had Oogie Boogie Bash food review duty, so I had to finish that first:

Surprisingly, I managed to finish all the food before the parade, so I got to watch the first one of the night.

The good thing about OBB is that most people won’t get their parade spots until 20 or 30 minutes before the parade starts.

After the parade, Nana’s Character Meet and Greet Specialist mode got activated, and I started going to character trails. Between 8:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., I got to see Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Oogie Boogie, Hades, Ernesto, and Syndrome.

For the second time, I got my parade spot 15 minutes before the parade started. If you don’t really care where you watch or how far back you are standing, I am 90% sure you can just show up right before the parade starts. After the parade, I followed the ending floats and went to meet Kingdom Hearts Mickey and Goofy.

I only waited for 5 minutes to meet them since it was right after the parade. They are usually a 30 to 45 minute wait. Just like the Sanderson Sisters, these two are very popular, and guests were again limited to one picture. By this point it was already close to 11 p.m., so I couldn’t see any more characters.

So why did I feel like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party was better this year?

This year, Oogie Boogie Bash didn’t have many new offerings. The only “new” characters were Syndrome and Maleficent, but even Maleficent was returning from the past.

Also, they are no longer giving out carrots as a treat. Carrots, grapes, and Sunchips are gone this year. The “healthy option” treats for 2025 were Goldfish, fig bars, and cranberries.

I was super disappointed. I missed my carrots.

MNSSHP is almost always the same; nothing has changed for the last 10 years. But, this also means it won’t disappoint me in many ways. OBB used to always have some changes, but nothing has changed for 2 years now. I am not sure whether I will go back next year if there are not a lot of new offerings, especially since I need to fly out there to go to the party.

So now 60% of the 2025 Halloween tour is done. The remaining items on my list are the Disney Vacation Club Halloween character meet and greets and Halloween Horror Nights, both of which are waiting for me next week.

I hope this crazy guide somewhat helps you plan your Halloween party experiences.

Thank you for reading Nana’s Death Note Princess Diary. I will see you real soon.

Special Thanks to my reporters, Ali and Arlo, for covering the crazy parties with me.
