Prop Hunt is a popular game mode in Fortnite, with many official and player-made maps topping charts for active players. Other well-known properties with Prop Hunt maps include an official SpongeBob SquarePants map and fan-made maps for Home Alone, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and more. The gameplay typically consists of players being randomly assigned the role of hider or seeker. Hiding players can take on the appearance of various “props” around the map, such as chairs, beds, lamps, and cars. Seekers must find the hiding players with a scanner. Once found, hiders usually respawn as seekers until the last player is found or time runs out.
Being an in-game event, the game will be available to all Fortnite players and will not require admission to Universal Studios Japan.

Players navigate freely through a realistic recreation of Universal Studios Japan, complete with accurately-placed streets, shops, and even garbage cans.

Japanese Halloween Horror Night icon Hamikuma will travel around the map alongside a horde of chainsaw-wielding zombies, adding another layer of challenge beyond the typical Prop Hunt gameplay.
Hamikuma, who will be appearing at Halloween Horror Nights in Universal Studios Japan and other parks around the world, is an original character for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Japan. He debuted in 2021 as a character in the “Gothic Killer Cuties” scarezone and has appeared at every following Halloween Horror Nights event since then.

Hiding players will have a selection of themed “props” to choose from, including a Universal Studios Japan welcome sign.

The in-game event begins Friday, August 22nd, and will be online through Monday, November 3rd, 2025 (event period subject to change).
