Disney Cruise Line shared more details of the Cask & Cannon bar on the Disney Destiny, plus a first look at pirates merchandise that will be available on the ship.
Cask & Cannon on the Disney Destiny
At Destination D23 this past weekend, Disney shared concept art of Cask & Cannon and a peek at the Dead Man’s Chest beverage experience. Disney Parks Blog states the space will be “a true pirate’s tavern filled with trinkets, treasures, and a trove of ‘Easter eggs’ inspired by the iconic Disney Parks attractions.”
It uses wooden planks and eclectic mismatched furniture to evoke the interior of a pirate ship, plus antiques presumably pillaged by the pirates. There will be nautical motifs and pirate iconography like treasure maps, fishing nets, barrel stools, rum bottles, and skull-and-crossbones insignias.
The carvings framing the bar’s portholes are cast in a charred wood look, an homage to the burning village of Pirates of the Caribbean. The lanterns are inspired by the Disneyland Paris version of the attraction. A set of thirteen drawers around the corner from the bar are filled with treasure maps, each labeled with different scenes representing the global parks and attractions, including The Ghostly Grotto, Port Royale, Talking Skull Bay, Blue Bayou (California), and Treasure Cove (Shanghai).
Nods to the Pirates of the Caribbean films include stacked treasure chests making up the front of the bar, which are inspired by the treasure rooms and Captain’s Quarters in the films.
The ceiling will feature a fantastical treasure map of the Caribbean Sea inspired by original artwork by Disney Legend, artist and animator Marc Davis. The drawing has been modified for this venue with new additions, including seven pirate ships representing the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
On the floor, woven into the carpet design, will be each of the pirate lords’ Pieces of Eight plus Captain Jack Sparrow’s compass.
New Pirates of the Caribbean Merch on the Disney Destiny

A new Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise collection will debut on the Disney Destiny. The collection includes one-of-a-kind bar tools and novelty drinkware, plus adult apparel and more. The preview photos include a skull-shaped mug and a tea towel.

A skeletal hand-shaped stand holds bar tools and unique coasters.

The items have brass finishes and pirate skull iconography. A photo frame features two mermaids.

There’s a tote bag with rope handles and a silicone mat with “A Pirate’s Life” around a skull icon.
The Disney Destiny sets sail on its maiden voyage on November 20 from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
