TV station group Nexstar will join Sinclair Broadcast Group in stopping the preempting of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Jimmy Kimmel Returning to Nexstar Stations

Variety reports that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return to 32 ABC affiliates starting Friday night after it preempted the show over the late-night host’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s killer. Disney has not made executives available for comments.
In a statement, Nexstar said the following:
As a local broadcaster, Nexstar remains committed to protecting the First Amendment while producing and airing local and national news that is fact-based and unbiased and, above all, broadcasting content that is in the best interest of the communities we serve. We stand apart from cable television, monolithic streaming services, and national networks in our commitment — and obligation — to be stewards of the public airwaves and to protect and reflect the specific sensibilities of our communities.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to the air on Tuesday and both Sinclair and Nexstar announced they would still preempt the show. However, earlier today, Sinclair announced they would allow the show to return, as well, meaning that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return fully to the air.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended indefinitely starting on September 17, 2025, following a comment by the host about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Kimmel said during the show, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
