Disney’s ABC is set to air a documentary entitled The Rob Reiner Story: A Hollywood Tragedy – ABC News Special tonight, December 16. The documentary comes just a few days after the news of Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner’s deaths.

The documentary outlines the lives of actor/producer/director Reiner, known for directing films such as The Princess Bride, A Few Good Men, and When Harry Met Sally, among many others, and his wife, a well-known photographer, activist, producer, and writer.
In addition to showcasing their lives and careers, the documentary also digs into the investigation of their murders with what is known so far. That includes the arrest of the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, who was booked on suspicion of murder.
An interview with Corey Feldman, who worked with Reiner on Stand By Me, is also featured in the documentary.
The documentary will air December 16 at 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. CST on ABC and be available to stream December 17 on Disney+ and Hulu.
Reiner’s Death

Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday, December 14, 2025. A spokesperson for the Reiner family told Variety, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
LAPD officials responded to the home, 200 block of Chadbourne Ave., at around 3:30 pm, where the two bodies were found.
Officials posted on X Sunday evening: “On December 14th, at 3:40 pm, LAPD officers responded to a death investigation in the 200 block of S. Chadbourne Ave. Inside the residence, officers discovered 2 decedents. The identity of the decedents has not yet been confirmed.”
The department continued, “Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) responded to the residence, which has been identified as the home of Rob Reiner. At this time, no further details are available as this is an ongoing RHD investigation into an apparent homicide.”
UPDATE (12/15/25 12:15 pm) Rob Reiner’s son Nick was reportedly booked into the Los Angeles County jail on suspicion of murder.
Rob Reiner directed the fantasy-comedy film The Princess Bride, released in 1987. Disney, through its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, now owns the film and is available on Disney+.
