Some outdoor character meet and greets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios have moved locations, apparently to better control crowds during the busy week of New Year’s Eve.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Character Meet and Greets
The changes are all reflected in the My Disney Experience app, where guests can look up character meet and greets. Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio are now appearing as a “sighting” rather than a meet and greet. Guests can see them on a balcony at the front of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. They previously met to the side of Center Stage in front of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Mary Poppins, Bert, and Mr. Penguin — who met on the other side of Center Stage — have moved to Grand Avenue. Pluto has moved across the street at Grand Avenue.
The Pinocchio and Mary Poppins characters began meeting regularly this fall.

The shuffling of locations moves meet and greets away from the center of the park, where a DJ will be set up beginning at 6 p.m. on December 31. Though New Year’s Eve fireworks will be at midnight, there will be New Year’s Eve Countdowns every hour beginning at 7 p.m. Guests will likely start securing their spots for the fireworks early.
