Walt Disney Studios First & Only Studio to Cross $6 Billion in 2025

Walt Disney Studios had a fantastic year, being the first and only major motion picture studio to make $6 billion. This is due to the success of Zootopia 2, the live-action Lilo and Stitch, and Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Walt Disney Studios Cross $6 Billion

Zootopia 2, which just premiered last month, has brought in over $1 billion so far.

Of the $6 billion, $2.3 billion came from the United States box office alone, and $3.65 billion is from international box offices. 2025 was Disney’s best year since 2019, when it brought in $13.1 billion. The studios previously crossed the $6 billion threshold each year from 2016 to 2019.

Warner Bros. trailed behind with $4.3 billion in 2025.

The success of the studio this year is largely due to the success of Zootopia 2, the live-action Lilo and Stitch, and Avatar: Fire and Ash. Zootopia 2, which just premiered last month, has brought in over $1 billion so far. The live-action Lilo and Stitch also brought in over $1 billion this year.

Then, there’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. The movie just released in the theaters last week, but it has already raked in $450 million.

Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps, Thunderbolts, and Captain America: Brave New World made over $1 billion collectively this year as well.

Predator: Badlands was the highest grossing movie in the 38-year old sci-fi thriller franchise with a near $184M. It was distributed by 20th Century Studios, which is owned by Disney. Freakier Friday ($153.1M), Tron Ares ($142.2M), and Pixar’s Elio ($154.2M) did not do well in theaters but still contributed.
