Monstropolis Aerial Photos Show Progress at Hollywood Studios

A recent update from X user bioreconstruct shows ongoing developments at Hollywood Studios, including the new Monstropolis area, coaster building, and Animation Courtyard.

We have a new top-down look at some of the progress on the areas under construction at Walt Disney World Resort’s Hollywood Studios.

The lower-angle aerial shot above shows a view of the park from the west, or the “back” side of the park relative to the guest entrance. You can see Galaxy’s Edge at the bottom center of the image, and just above that and slightly to the right, the large tan area of land is the site of the upcoming Monsters, Inc. suspended coaster.

Here you can see the construction of the gravity building for the roller coaster. More concrete floor appears to have been added from our last update, along with concrete forms and a substantial amount of fill dirt. The dirt is covering the concrete, bottom right in this image, that we saw in previous aerial photos. Electrical conduits are also being buried.

In the top left of the photo above, the outline of the guest-facing side of the building, made up of right angles, is starting to take shape.

Here is a side-by-side close-up of the concept art, for comparison, to see how the front of the building matches up.

In this photo, you can see on the left where Gonzo’s Royal Flush sign was also removed, and in the center, what remains after the PizzeRizzo sign was taken down.

Here is a look from the front of the park. The entrance is at the bottom left, and the Monstropolis construction is in the upper left.

Elsewhere in the park, we see the continuing work in the Animation Courtyard area. We got a closer look at the developments on the new Animation Courtyard back in December.
