A new Coco attraction is heading to Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort. We reported the location in June 2025, and it appears that shrub and foliage removal have begun, indicating the beginning of construction on the new attraction.
Foliage Removal

Behind the construction gates, we can see that shrubs are being removed from the area. There is only a little upturned dirt so far, though we anticipate more plants will be removed shortly, with the area being completely cleared in the future.
The area is blocked off with temporary fencing and green scrim.

The plant removal is taking place in a backstage area behind Pixar Pier and the Incredicoaster, as we can see in the above photo.

The entrance to the ride will be located between Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, as seen in the concept art above.

Temporary buildings are also backstage, likely to be used for this construction project. We counted seven, but there may be more hidden from view.

Construction is taking place near the intersection of Downtown Dr. and Disneyland Dr. From a broader perspective, the attraction will be located near Katella Ave. and S West Dr.

Across the street from the new attraction’s location is a parking lot and the Pixar Place Hotel.

In the above aerial photo, you can see the area where the land clearing is taking place.
Coco Attraction

We still don’t know the exact parameters of the attraction except that concept art indicates it will be a boat ride. However, as told at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, in 2024, the ride may feature Miguel venturing into the Land of the Dead with animatronic figures of some of the film’s characters.
The large cast will include characters from the Pixar film. Of course, it will also feature the movie’s iconic music.
“We’re bringing our skeletal cast of characters to life in a big way with the latest Audio-Animatronics technology,” D’Amaro said. “These figures will appear in ways that you’ll have to experience to believe.”
