There are now construction walls and black scrim in the middle of Harambe Market at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The quick-service location is closed to become a burgers and chicken nuggets quick-service restaurant.

Despite being closed for two and a half months, there have been no visible signs of construction at Harambe Market. Most work has likely taken place backstage, out of guest view. Guests have still been able to enter Harambe Market and enjoy its shaded seating.

The new construction walls wrap around a portion of the former mobile order pick-up windows. The black scrim covers the space between the awning and walls, completely blocking the area from view.

We don’t know how much this area will change during the refurbishment. The construction walls may indicate there will be superficial updates to the pick-up windows, or there could be larger thematic changes.

The construction walls end before the “You Are Most Beautiful” backstage entrance.

Harambe Market closed in October. Its rice bowls and wraps moved to Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery in Africa, which is now open for lunch until 5 p.m. It will reopen in March, serving hamburgers and chicken nuggets as a replacement for Restaurantosaurus, which closes permanently in February.
