In February 2025, we reported that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy would be retiring at the end of the year. It seems that retirement has come, and the speculation is that she will be replaced by Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan.
New Leadership

While not confirmed, there is speculation that Kennedy will be replaced by Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan in a co-presidency.
“In the next week or two, Disney will finally confirm what we’ve all known for months: Kathleen Kennedy is indeed stepping down as Lucasfilm president, and Dave Filoni, currently the chief creative officer of the Star Wars unit, will be elevated into the top job.” Matthew Belloni of Puck News wrote.

Further, Belloni speculated that Filoni will share the presidency with Brennan, who is currently the president and general manager of Lucasfilm businesses. However, the outlet asserts that Filoni would be the one running Lucasfilm’s creative side, making him in charge of the future of Star Wars. Brennan would be charged with the other side of Lucasfilm’s businesses and would continue the handling of the business side.

Belloni explained, “Filoni has never really been a traditional executive, so they’re giving him a partner in Lynwen Brennan, currently president and general manager of Lucasfilm Business, but he’ll be the decider on the creative direction of the franchise in film, television, and any other platforms in the galaxy.”
Lucasfilm has not issued a statement addressing the report, and Kennedy has not commented publicly on the claims.
Kennedy’s Time at Lucasfilm
Kennedy became the co-chair of Lucasfilm in 2012 alongside George Lucas. However, when The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm later that year, Lucas exited, and Kennedy was named president.
She oversaw the development and production of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Rogue One, Solo, and the live-action Disney+ shows like The Mandalorian and Andor. She also produced Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny.
Kennedy is also producing The Mandalorian & Grogu, which premieres in theaters on May 22, 2026.
