Disneyland Attendance Crosses 900 Million Guests

Over its seven decades of operation, Disneyland has reached a major milestone, welcoming its 900 millionth visitor since opening in 1955.

In an article from the OC Register covering content from the upcoming Disneyland Handcrafted documentary by Leslie Iwerks, Disneyland Park has reportedly crossed a milestone achievement of 900 million guests since its opening in 1955.

This achievement reflects the long-term global appeal of the original Disney theme park, which has consistently drawn millions of guests annually and expanded over time to include Disney California Adventure and related resort offerings.

After pandemic-related closures and operational challenges, theme park attendance has rebounded strongly across the Disney portfolio, with industry reports showing robust visitor numbers at Disney parks globally.

Disneyland’s visitor figures reflect both local and international tourism trends, as well as the park’s ongoing role in the broader Southern California tourism economy.

It’s important to note current numbers are based on unofficial estimates using third party data – Disney has ceased regular updates regarding attendance for some time now.

Regardless, based on the latest estimates and new information from Disneyland Handcrafted, OC Registers notes:

Disneyland will hit the 1 billion visitor mark in late 2031 if the park maintains its current attendance rate over the next six years.

Tracking attendance numbers used to be a Disneyland tradition, with the park proudly issuing annual tallies … Disneyland no longer publicly announces attendance figures.

Disneyland once regularly boasted about major attendance milestones — reaching 100 million visitors in 1971, 200 million in 1981, 300 million in 1989, 400 million in 1997 and 500 million in 2004.

Disney California Adventure has welcomed 171.6 million visitors from the 2001 park opening through 2024, according to Amusement Business and TEA estimates.

The all-time combined attendance of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure likely surpassed 1 billion visitors in February 2025 based on estimates from publicly available attendance figures.

Disneyland (alone) will hit the 1 billion visitor mark in late 2031 if the park maintains its current attendance rate.
