After Disney announced its partnership with OpenAI’s Sora, a cease-and-desist letter was sent to Google regarding Gemini’s usage of Disney characters. Google has since removed those videos, but additional details concerning this dispute have been revealed.
Details On Disney-Google Dispute

According to an industry source, the cease-and-desist letter also went out to third-party producers to disentangle any Google AI tools from their respective workflows. Meanwhile, Disney gave its employees official access to ChatGPT. The source goes on to say Disney went about this maneuver in a detailed and coordinated manner, hinting at a months-long elaborate plan.
Disney has previously sent cease-and-desist letters to Character.AI and Meta, and joined lawsuits against AI companies Midjourney and MiniMax. Disney has highlighted AI for advertisers at a recent tech showcase, while the president of SAG-AFTRA has commented on the deal between Disney and OpenAI.

Currently, Gemini does still generate content with Disney characters (not the case with ChatGPT and Copilot), though with mixed results. Pictured above is an image generated of Figment celebrating his new ride.
