Go Bananas for New Gideon’s Bakehouse Treats at Disney Springs

Banana lovers rejoice! Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort has new limited-edition banana flavored treats to kick off the new year. Find out what we thought of the new sweet treats below.

This cookie combines real banana, toffee, and Gideon’s Bakehouse’s “secret blend of spices,” topped with white chocolate and crunchy candied vanilla wafers. It will be available each day as supplies last at both Gideon’s Bakehouse Orlando locations at Disney Springs and the East End Market.

Our reporter has never had a bad Gideon’s cookie, and this one is no exception. The banana is real and not manufactured, giving it an authentic flavor profile rather than an artificial taste. The banana is sweet and pairs perfectly with the crushed vanilla wafers and white chocolate bits. The Gideon’s spices are at work here as the salt and other spices definitely balance the cookie so it’s not overly sugary.

If you like banana bread, you will love this. The flavors work together and everything is soft and chewy without being doughy. It’s perfect. Only banana haters would dislike.

*NEW* Banana Moonpie Cake Slice – $11

Roasted banana cake layers with graham cracker marshmallow buttercream, crispy vanilla wafer crumble, and mini marshmallows, topped with half of a mini moonpie

There is also a new banana moonpie cake slice for guests to try. It is only available while supplies last on Saturdays and Wednesdays with a limit of two per person.

Overall, it’s decent, but it isn’t Gideon’s strongest cake offering. It’s very banana-forward with vanilla notes on the end. Banana lovers will love it, but it’s a tad dry and feels like it’s missing something. The marshmallow doesn’t add any flavor; we wish they had more of the vanilla wafers instead as the marshmallow just adds a weird texture. The moonpie on top is not good. It has no taste other than that same weird artificial sugar from the marshmallow

It’s a solid cake slice, but we think the cookie is probably a better bet for your banana fix.

The featured drink for January is the banana nitro cold brew. As the team from Gideon’s says, “this one is made from real banana, not some flavor in a bottle nonsense.” This drink will only be available at Gideon’s in Disney Springs this month.

Guests can also look forward to new merchandise celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Disney Springs location of Gideon’s Bakehouse. The bakery is also releasing a special free gift to celebrate on January 16, according to the Instagram post.

Gideon’s Bakehouse is a popular, gothic-themed quick-service cookie and coffee shop found at the Landing section of Disney Springs at Walt Disney World. The shop is open from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM and is known for its large, approximately half-pound cookies.

Will you try the new Banana Box Pie Cookie this month? Let us know in the comments and on social media.
