After a quiet period on the next chapter for Pixar’s superhero family, the voice of Mrs. Incredible may have shared news on production status for the film.

'Incredibles 3' Production Update from Holly Hunter, Voice of Elastigirl

In an interview with Screenrant, Holly Hunter – the voice of Elastigirl/Mrs. Incredible – touched on the current status of Pixar’s next Incredibles installment.

ScreenRant: Incredibles 3 is happening. It’s been greenlit. Do you know about it?

Holly Hunter: I think I start in March.

ScreenRant: How cool is the story?

Holly Hunter: I don’t know I never do know. I never know what the stories are of Incredibles. I go in and I record with Brad, or in this case, I don’t know if it’s going to be Brad, but I think that he’s been writing the script. So it’s very exciting.

While Hunter’s comments in this interview don’t provide concrete word on production status for the film, we can infer that the core work of animating the project will only begin in March or sometime thereafter. Voice actors typically record their parts prior to the core animation work for a film so that artists and animators can integrate their delivery and inflection into a character’s appearance.

Regardless, her comments in this interview mark a significant step forward for the long-awaited Pixar sequel after years of anticipation. Hunter indicated that voice recording and broader production activities are slated to start in March, though specific plot details remain under wraps and she herself hasn’t yet seen the full script. Given the March estimate, we can also speculate that the script is either complete or near-completion as the voice actors gear up to work in the studio in just a few weeks’ time.

'Incredibles 3' Production Update from Holly Hunter, Voice of Elastigirl

Incredibles 3 was first announced in 2024 at that year’s D23 event in Anaheim, CA. Brad Bird, writer and director of the previous Incredibles films and other classic animation titles, was originally onboard to head the threequel.

In our last major update regarding the film, however, it was announced that Peter Sohn – director of Pixar’s Elemental – would be taking over for Bird in the directorial role. Bird remains onboard as a writer.
