The lead actor of Percy Jackson and the Olympians series on Disney+ touched on the series future in a recent interview.
SPOILER ALERT for Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians!
The season 2 finale of Percy Jackson and the Olympians escalates the stakes for the Disney+ series, closing one major conflict while setting up an uncharted, complicated future for its young heroes.
In the final episode, Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) rally the demigods of Camp Half-Blood to stop Luke (Charlie Bushnell) and his followers from resurrecting the Titan Kronos. The climactic battle ends with Clarisse (Dior Goodjohn) successfully completing her quest by using the Golden Fleece to heal Thalia’s poisoned tree — an act that unexpectedly brings Thalia back to life.
The finale goes beyond the events of The Sea of Monsters novel by revealing a key deception at the heart of Camp Half-Blood’s history.

The series discloses that Zeus did not turn Thalia into a tree solely as a noble act of sacrifice, as previously believed, but to contain her after she learned of the Great Prophecy and resisted being used as a weapon by the gods.
Chiron warns that Kronos, in his war against the Olympians, may also be seeking a champion — and Thalia could be central to that plan, complicating the loyalties and futures of Percy and his friends.
In interviews following the finale, Scobell described the final battle as one of the show’s most demanding sequences, featuring extensive practical effects and large-scale combat.
He also noted that the darker tone reflects the growing maturity of the setting and characters within.
I guess it just kind of shows the brutal reality of the world they live in..this is like a normal demigod thing in a lot of ways, unfortunately for them. I’m really happy that we’re leaning more into that, because it just also shows our characters aren’t invincible. They get hurt, and it’s important to remember that, especially moving forward into all the crazy stuff we have to do in Season 3, and hopefully, if we get renewed, 4 and 5.
Notably, Scobell’s final comment in this particular response suggests that the “new” writing for this adaptation of the book series may extend far enough into the story’s future to warrant not just one but two further seasons.
Looking ahead, Scobell said season 3 — based on The Titan’s Curse — will mark a noticeable shift toward more mature storytelling, aimed at an audience that has grown alongside the characters.
With the series now moving into material never before adapted in live action, the actor expressed both excitement and nervousness, emphasizing that the upcoming season represents his own definitive take on Percy Jackson.
As we reported last week, Disney has confirmed that season 3 is expected to debut later this year.
