Tomorrowland Stage Shut Down in Hong Kong Disneyland for Marvel Expansion

The latest construction progress of Hong Kong Disneyland’s Marvel-themed expansion has been shared on Instagram by the Disney Magical Kingdom Blog. The Marvel area was first announced over a decade ago. The Stark Expo in Tomorrowland began with the Iron Man Experience in 2017, then Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters was replaced with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! in 2019. Another E-Ticket attraction was announced many years ago for the are, but it was canceled. However, the Autopia ride did close to make way for it.

As part of the ongoing work, the large screen at the Tomorrowland Stage has been shut down. The stage is located just to the left of the Expo Shop. Based on concept art, the new Avengers Drop Tower/Spider-Man attraction will utilize some of this property within the park. Construction cranes can be seen just behind the former stage, roughly where the bulk of the Utopia attraction was located.

An E-ticket Avengers Quinjet attraction was announced, and Autopia closed to make way for it in 2021. The ride was supposed to open in 2023 but there had been no announcements since 2019 surrounding the attraction. In June 2024, Hong Kong Disneyland announced an expansion was still planned and they revealed a new Spider-Man attraction taking the place of the Quinjet ride at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024.

Hong Kong Disneyland recently revealed new concept art for the next Avengers attraction, with the first piece of concept art showing a version of Avengers Tower, while the second features Dr. Strange, Thor, Black Panther, and Spider-Man with the dropping car of guests. Asgard appears to be in the background.
