The newest permit related to the Piston Peak area under construction at Magic Kingdom is for the former Mike Fink Keel Boats dock near The Haunted Mansion.
Keel Boat Landing Permit

The Keel Boat Landing is next to the entrance of The Haunted Mansion, pictured above. Though the Mike Fink Keel Boats have been closed since 2001, the dock remained and the building was used as an extended queue for The Haunted Mansion. Construction walls went up around part of the building early during Rivers of America demolition.

The new permit from Walt Disney Imagineering calls for “General Construction” at the address of the landing. The contractor is MLC Theming, whose specializations include scenic painting, aging of structures, fabricating facades, and carving rock work.
The permit being filed by Walt Disney Imagineering and contracting MLC indicates the landing won’t be demolished but re-themed. It is not included in the Piston Peak National Park “fun map” or Frontierland concept art (below). The nearby Riverboat Landing is, however.
It is possible this could be demolished, or they could keep a portion of it. It is multi-level, so maybe the top level is staying, so it lines up with The Haunted Mansion.
The Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island closed permanently last summer to be demolished and transformed into Piston Peak as part of Frontierland. Piston Peak National Park will include two attractions. One is an off-road rally race ride.
The land was designed with sightlines in mind so guests won’t see car architecture when they’re deep in other areas of Frontierland. Though Rivers of America is gone, the area will have a small river, waterfalls, and other water features.
