The upcoming supernatural comedy-drama series premiering sometime this year has added Devan Sawa to its cast list after revealing its initial cast in 2025.

Sawa has recently appeared in multiple roles on the Chucky series (2021-2024). He is best known for starring in the first Final Destination film (2000) and for playing the titular role in 1995’s Casper alongside Christina Ricci.
Sawa is described as “The effortlessly cool teacher who’s tired of watching teenagers mistake talent for readiness. He’s the adult who can clown you and protect you in the same breath. A good man and a brilliant warlock. It’s just another year at Coven Academy until Mr. Cole and the rest of the faculty are rocked by a surprising new student who threatens to upend everything.”
Coven Academy was greenlit in August 2025 and is expected to arrive on both Disney+ and Disney Channel. The official logline states ‘Teen witch apprentices band together to defend New Orleans against an approaching dark force.’ The creator, Tim Federle, previously worked as the showrunner on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
