In a rare turn of events, Mickey and Donald have been seen roaming in Magic Kingdom.

Roaming characters are a rare site in Disney World. Seeing Mickey and Donald roaming near the castle is even more rare. This morning, we caught the pair waving and greeting guests as they made their way from the back of Cinderella Castle, around Tomorrowland, and back again.

This rare occurrence is likely due to the altered time for Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, which is now running limited showtimes to accommodate the repainting of Cinderella Castle. While roaming characters cannot stop for official meet and greets, they are typically able to grab a quick selfie or offer a wave as they pass by, interacting with families on their path. Cast Members walk with the characters to ensure they are not crowded and are able to continue walking.

Other more common roaming characters include Chip ‘n’ Dale in their Tomorrowland outfits and Stitch. All three can typically be seen earlier in the morning or on less crowded days around Tomorrowland. It is also common to see Alice and the Mad Hatter around the Mad Tea Party in the early mornings. You might even catch them taking a spin!
