Scrim Surrounding the Site of Former La Brea Bakery Rolled Up at Disneyland

The scrim that was recently installed around the demolition site of the former La Brea Bakery in anticipation of Porto’s Bakery have been rolled up. We’re unsure if this is a permanent change or just temporary.

La Brea Bakery Scrim Walls Rolled Up

La Brea Bakery scrim walls now rolled up at Downtown Disney.

On our visit to Downtown Disney today, February 17, we noticed the green scrim that had been recently installed was rolled up, allowing us to look at the demolition site of the former La Brea Bakery.

For reference, this is what the scrim looked like last week:

Dark green scrim walls installed around the former La Brea Bakery.

The scrim continues to block the main walkway and reroute guests around the other side, closer to the tram station.

Looking through the fences surrounding the construction site, we could see several excavators and piles of rubble.

Behind the scrim walls is a line of sandbags, possibly in anticipation of rain. Some parts of the concrete slab have been removed to allow access into the ground.

Another view of the construction site shows a parked truck and temporary platforms on the walkway. Behind the red fences, there is a deep hole in the group with pipes next to it. Further beyond the pit, there are piles of rubble and some wood walls.

La Brea Bakery closed permanently in 2023, but the building was used as a temporary Earl of Sandwich for over two years. The new Porto’s Bakery & Cafe was announced in 2022 to replace La Brea, but there were delays with the project. Earl of Sandwich is also getting a new location in Downtown Disney.

In addition to the former La Brea Bakery, two ticket booths were demolished.
