‘The Muppet Show’ Gets Almost 8 Million Viewers in Just Over a Week

According to Variety and a press release from The Walt Disney Company, The Muppet Show revival special with Sabrina Carpenter has reached 7.58 million viewers across Disney+ and ABC since it debuted on February 4, and Kermit the Frog himself released a video to celebrate the achievement.

This is great news as Disney is reportedly already working on more episodes, according to journalist Drew Taylor who spoke on the matter during episode 345 of his podcast Fine Tooning. Taylor said to his co-host Jim Hill, “They’re working on writing episodes right now for future installments, Jim, so I just hope that it happens.”

Ahead of the special’s release, it had a 100% Tomatometer (critic score) on Rotten Tomatoes. That has since only dropped to 98% with an audience score to match. The critics consensus reads, “It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights — this spirited return to The Muppet Show‘s roots is clever, earnest, and feels exactly right.”

To celebrate, the official Muppets Instagram account shared a special message from Kermit the Frog:

#TheMuppetShow is a smash-hit, and Kermit the Frog has only one thing to say about it: YAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!
