Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a permit for Carousel of Progress. The Carousel of Progress is getting an update at Magic Kingdom that is set to include a new audio animatronic version of Walt Disney.

The permit was just filed today, February 5, by Walt Disney Imagineering. It contracts Grunau Fire Protection to install FA/FP systems.

In construction, this refers to Fire Alarm (FA) and Fire Protection (FP) systems, which detect, notify, and suppress fires. These systems include smoke detection, audible notifications, and suppression methods like sprinkler or foam systems.

With the upcoming addition of the Walt Disney audio animatronic, Disney may be preparing the space for this to happen.

Before guests follow an American family over four generations of progress as technology transforms their lives, catch a brand-new introductory scene and hear from the legendary man who never stood in the way of progress — Walt Disney. 

Early concept art of the new animatronic was shared during a Destination D23 presentation. The art shows Walt standing in a room reminiscent of an office, surrounded by sketches and blueprints. One particular piece of art within the scene shows an early image of EPCOT.

No other details have really been mentioned, but the Carousel of Progress update will likely be similar to the Walt Disney animatronic that debuted last summer at Disneyland Park.
