Walt Disney World Adjusts Water Ride Hours Due to Extreme Cold

Central Florida is currently experiencing the coldest weather in over 10 years. Due to the frigid temperatures, Walt Disney World has made some adjustments for guest safety and satisfaction. Both Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Kali River Rapids have adjusted hours this weekend to account for the cold.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

A rugged mountain structure features red rock formations and a wooden cabin with a steep water flume, set under a bright blue sky with scattered clouds, creating an enchanting scene perfect for a Magic Kingdom photo report.

Magic Kingdom is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1 and 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open later than the park and close earlier:

  • Sunday, February 1 – 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Monday, February 2 – 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

Plummeting Temperatures in Central Florida

8 Degree Wind Chills at Disney World and Chance of Snow Flurries Increasing for Central Florida

The nighttime temperature on Saturday will go down to 25 degrees Fahrenheit with moderate winds. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) calculator, a temperature of 25 degrees with 30 mph winds gives a wind chill of 8.1 degrees.

With these low temperatures, there is a slight chance that the East Coast of Central Florida could see some snowflakes or a wintry mix. If snow does fall, however, it is unlikely to accumulate, according to News6.

Because of this change in weather, the NWS has issued an Extreme Cold Watch for areas of Central Florida, including Orlando. The watch runs from Saturday evening into Sunday afternoon.

With the cold temps, Disney is also covering plants and salting bridges around the parks.
