Work on the exterior of Savi’s Workshop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has finally shown a visible sign, albeit a very small sign, of new updates.
A Little Bit More Shade Comes to Galaxy’s Edge

After months of unknown work underway on the exterior courtyard adjacent to Savi’s Workshop, we’ve seen our first new development in the area, which has remained walled off to guests since August 2025.
A small triangular canopy has been added over the courtyard, hanging by three points across adjacent structures, and given quite a bit of slack.

As you can see in our photos, the canopy is very small, and the material of the canopy itself appears to be fairly thin, as you can clearly see the sky or other aspects of Galaxy’s Edge through it.
Given all that, it seems unlikely the canopy is intended to serve any functional purpose. It is more likely intended as general decor meant to add to the Star Wars aesthetic of the area, though it may be a temporary fixture related to some other unseen work happening in the area below.

As of reporting, no other changes to the courtyard (besides this new canopy) are visible from guest perspectives.
Savi’s Workshop Construction Walls

The temporary barriers around this area outside of Savi’s Workshop have been in place since August 2025. They include both traditional wooden walls and some tightly pulled tarps seen to the right of the visible stairs. Disney has not yet confirmed the nature of work underway behind these walls.
Savi’s Workshop is an interactive experience in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge where guests can build a custom lightsaber. Guests can choose lightsaber pieces from several design themes when constructing their Jedi weapon.
