With the Disney Adventure currently on her maiden voyage in Singapore, Disney Cruise Line has confirmed that their ninth vessel in the company’s growing fleet will be sailing out of Japan starting in 2029.
Disney Cruises Coming to Japan in 2029
The new ship based out of Tokyo will hold up to 4,000 passengers, itineraries and onboard experiences are yet to be announced.
The ship, whose name also has not been announced, is being built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, and will join the Wish-class ship, along with the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, and another ship, whose name has not been announced. The new ship is scheduled to be delivered in 2028.

The Disney Adventure is Disney Cruise Line’s eighth ship in the fleet and its first based in Asia, but she will not be the last. In the official press release for the Adventure’s maiden voyage, Disney Cruise Line emphasized that its division “currently has more projects underway globally than at any point in the company’s history,” which includes five more ships launching between 2027 and 2031.
Of those new ships, one is the highly anticipated Wish-class ship that will be owned and operated by Oriental Land Company, which manages the Disney-licensed Tokyo Disney Resort and resort hotels in Japan. The deal was announced in July 2024 and will be OLC’s first-ever cruise ship.
The final line of the release confirms when the OLC-managed ship will set sail:
Building on that momentum, Disney is also working with Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (OLC) to bring Disney cruise vacations to Japan in 2029, further extending the company’s foothold in Asia.
