Figment fans rejoice – a brand new sweatshirt featuring our favorite purple dragon has dropped at Walt Disney World Resort.
Figment Character Portrait Sweatershirt – $64.99
This new top, starring Figment, appears to be the latest release in a line of vibrant sweatshirts themed to Disney animated characters. (For comparison, a Daisy version of the same top is seen adjacent to Figment in our photo above).
In this Figment-inspired variant, the sweatshirt features a vibrant violet color throughout. At the center of the torso is a chenille portrait of Figment himself, pictured in a straight-on angle, as he looks back at the viewer with his signature gleeful grin.
Below Figment’s portrait, the text logo for “Walt Disney World” is printed in a variety of gold, orange, and lavender hues, similar to other tops in the same collection and their corresponding color palettes.
Figment, an icon among Walt Disney World fans, is a small purple dragon who serves as the mascot of EPCOT’s Imagination pavilion at Walt Disney World. He was created as a fantastical companion to the Dreamfinder, a whimsical inventor, for the “Journey Into Imagination” attraction, which opened in 1983 shortly after EPCOT’s opening.
The ride quickly became one of the park’s most memorable attractions, and Figment consequently became a favorite among the original characters designed for Walt Disney World resort properties.
Figment’s name comes from the phrase “a figment of your imagination,” which reflects his role as a character born from creative thought that drives the original ride experience.
Over the years, Figment has remained popular with Disney fans despite less-than-popular changes made to the Imagination pavilion and its core attraction. In recent years, he has appeared more consistently in merchandise, festival branding, and other EPCOT promotions.
