On the Disney Adventure, young guests can nap and play (and give their guardians some adults-only time) at the “it’s a small world” Nursery. The theming is approximately the same as on other Disney Cruise Line ships.

“it’s a small world” Nursery

The nursery is on Deck 8, near Disney’s Oceaneer Club. While the club is for guests ages 3 to 10, the nursery is for ages 6 months to 3 years old. Unlike the other youth areas, the nursery requires reservations and costs an extra fee.

Daily operating hours vary. Guests can check the screens outside the nursery and the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for up-to-date information on their sailing. There’s an open house on the first day of every sailing, which is when we visited.

More information about reservations is at the bottom of this article.

In the entrance area is a manned by cast members. Here, guests can make reservations or check-in. All over the walls is “it’s a small world”-style artwork of classic images from the attraction. The desk’s trim resembles a canopy on a boat.

Tinker Bell and Peter Pan are pictured next to the illuminated “it’s a small world” Nursery sign. There’s a window that parents can peek through to see their child playing without entering the room.

Inside, more “it’s a small world”-inspired artwork in the style of Mary Blair covers the walls. But these murals go beyond the ride, representing classic Disney characters and locations. Elements of the murals also move and are interactive.

One wall features Shuri from Black Panther in Wakanda and The Lion King characters at Pride Rock.

In the center of the play room is Big Ben and Tower Bridge. Tink is on a medallion flying next to the clock tower.

Tink lights up and flying characters from Peter Pan cycle around Big Ben. Throughout the murals are depictions of the famous “it’s a small world” clock face.

Next to that is a plaid castle tower inhabited by Merida and her bear brothers. An “it’s a small world” goat is atop the castle. The Eiffel Tower nearby features the Aristocats kittens and Remy from Ratatouille.

The “it’s a small world” imagery also extends to the furniture. Tables feature pastel designs. Cast members lay out books for little ones to read.

Activities are unscheduled and vary depending on each child’s mood. Offerings include movie time, story time, and arts and crafts.

A particularly tropical section of the walls features Casita from Encanto with the Madrigal family in the windows. Next to Casita is the marigold bridge from Coco with Miguel and Hector playing guitars.

A TV screen is built-into a Pinocchio puppet theater-inspired structure. Below the theater, Luca and Alberto from Luca are hiding. During the open house, a play mat was laid out in front of the TV, which was just showing some of the mural artwork.

Tangled is represented with Rapunzel in her tower. Her hair moves back and forth and Pascal glows on the roof. Anna, Elsa, and Olaf are all on a Frozen section of the mural.

In one corner is the Sultan’s palace with an image of Aladdin and Jasmine flying on the Magic Carpet. ON the other wall is Mulan atop the roof of a Chinese palace with her horse, Khan.

The space has soft lighting and various toys available.

The nap room is tucked behind short walls. This space has dark blue lighting and several cribs.

An armchair is in the center for cast members to relax. The murals here feature scenes with Pocahontas, Toy Story characters, Lightning McQueen, Princess Tiana, and Marvel superheroes. These represent America while the murals outside the nap room represent other countries around the world.

A light-up mobile features the Pixar ball and flying Pixar icons like the house from Up and WALL-E.

There are built-in sinks and changing tables outside the restrooms. These walls feature oceanic scenes from Lilo & StitchFinding NemoThe Little Mermaid, and Moana.

Mickey & Minnie Captain’s Deck

Though listed as part of Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Mickey & Minnie Captain’s Deck is right next to “it’s a small world” Nursery. It’s a play area for young kids that can be fully closed off for toddler time.

A playground is in the middle of the space. It has small tunnels and a slide, all with nautical theming and touches inspired by Mickey and Minnie. The floor is made to look like the wooden boards of a ship’s deck with a large blue and gold “rug” in the center.

A blue slide runs between red Mickey-shaped elements.

There’s a yellow tunnel connected to a very short platform with portholes.

Spinning pictures let kids dress up Mickey and Minnie in different costumes.

The walls are blue and white striped. Portraits of Mickey and Minnie are on one wall. Among the toys available are large plush blocks.

Interactive features are all placed close to the floor. This world map has castles representing all the Disney resorts and six movable Disney Cruise Line ships, each being steered by a different character.

Below a portrait of Donald and Daisy is an interactive water pump.

Chip ‘n’ Dale appear on a screen in the pump.

Giant Disney Cruise Line life rings are on the floor.

Kids can channel their inner captain at this screen and control panel inspired by the bridge of a ship. The screen shows the ship’s bow with the ocean ahead. Guests can turn the wheel, pull levers, and press buttons to steer.

The plush stools have red and yellow tops. Their blue sides are patterned with the Disney Cruise Line logo. They have rope trim.

A Chip ‘n’ Dale portrait hangs above a red counter perfect for coloring or other activities.

Pictures of Goofy and Pluto are above a boat-inspired table and benches.

Mickey & Minnie’s Captain’s Deck has its own restroom and sink.

Reservations and Important Information

Nursery reservations can be made on a first-come, first-served basis during the open house on Embarkation Day or anytime throughout a sailing. Because space is extremely limited, Disney Cruise Line recommends booking as early as possible.

The minimum reservation time is one hour.

Reservations must be canceled at least four hours in advance to avoid cancelation charges. If the reservation is not canceled at least four hours in advance, or if guests do not arrive for their scheduled reservation, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged.

Disney has milk, water, snacks, bottles, utensils, and similar supplies available but guests can also bring their own items. Personal belongings and food items should be labeled with the child’s name.
