3 Best and Worst Lightning Lanes at Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is full of action, adventure, and attractions that can have long wait times. To avoid spending your day in line, here are the three best and worst Lightning Lane choices at this park.

Single Pass

The Lightning Lane Single Pass is completely separate from the Multi Pass, and it lets you purchase access to one specific attraction.

The Lightning Lane Single Pass is completely separate from the Multi Pass, and it lets you purchase access to one specific attraction.

At Hollywood Studios, there is only one attraction available as a single Lightning Lane pass: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This attraction is not available as one of your three choices on a Multi Pass.

Multi Pass

Unlike the Single Pass, the Multi Pass allows you to choose up to three attractions in advance with specific arrival windows. You can also make extra selections throughout the day after your first three are complete.

Unlike the Single Pass, the Multi Pass allows you to choose up to three attractions in advance with specific arrival windows. After using your first Multi Pass experience, you may be able to choose an additional experience (subject to availability).

At Hollywood Studios, the following attractions are redeemable through the Multi Pass:

You can choose one of the following:

Premier Pass

Beyond Multi Pass, you also have the option to use Premier Pass at Hollywood Studios. Once you’ve purchased the pass for your chosen park and date, you can enter the Lightning Lane entrances one time for each participating attraction (the same as the Multi Pass, plus the Single Pass) at any time during the day. There’s no need to book return times or manage ride reservations. Simply tap in at the Lightning Lane entrance and enjoy the ride.

3 Best Lightning Lanes

Because of the tier system at Hollywood Studios, we’re breaking down the best Tier 1 option (between Runaway Railway, Smugglers Run, and Slinky Dog Dash) and two Tier 2 options. With the upcoming retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, that may become the top option for Lightning Lane, but we won’t know until it opens.

  • Tier 1: Slinky Dog Dash
    • Average wait time: 75 minutes
    • Highest wait on the day of writing: 95 minutes
  • Tier 2: Tower of Terror
    • Average wait time: 49 minutes
    • Highest wait on the day of writing: 95 minutes
  • Tier 2: Toy Story Mania
    • Average wait time: 45 minutes
    • Highest wait on the day of writing: 65 minutes

We included the highest wait time on the day of writing, as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is still down for refurbishment. Without that attraction, wait times may be skewing higher than normal.

3 Worst Lightning Lanes

Generally, the worst Lightning Lane choices (when you have to choose) are shows that happen throughout the day. That’s because they can often seat everyone in the standby line, and you’ll be wasting the opportunity to use the Lightning Lane on something else.

In the case of Hollywood Studios, those choices would be:

  • Star Tours
    • Average all-time wait: 15 minutes
    • Average wait on the day of writing: 9 minutes
  • For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
  • The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure

Although the Indiana Jones stunt show and Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage are also performances, they aren’t in indoor theaters and are more likely to be impacted by weather. Plus, they are performed less often during the day, so they make more sense for a Lightning Lane than The Little Mermaid or Frozen Sing-Along.
