The Walt Disney Family Museum joined the viral “This is Who” trend with a few photos from the Disney family archive, including a baby photo of Walt.
Historic Disney Family Photos
First, the museum shared a photo of baby Walt Disney with the text “This is who you’re going to a museum to learn about.” Walt was born on Dec 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois.

Then they shared an image of young Lillian Bounds (Lillian Disney, by marriage), probably with two of her siblings. The text over this image reads “This is who tells Walt that the name ‘Mickey’ is better than ‘Mortimer.'” She told him this during a train ride in 1928 and the rest is history.

Next is a photo of Walt kneeling beside a little black dog. The text reads, “This is who Walt is getting inspiration for Lady and the Tramp (1955) from.” Sunnee was a black Chow Chow whom Walt gave to Lillian in a hatbox on one Christmas Eve after they bought a home in Los Angeles. This moment would later be immortalized in the scene when Lady is given to Darling.

Finally, the museum shared a photo of Walt holding his daughter, Diane, with the caption: “This is who you’re asking to write a book about her dad.” At the bottom of the photo reads “spoiler alert, she created a museum instead!” Diane Disney Miller and her son Walt E. Disney Miller opened The Walt Disney Museum together in San Francisco in 2009.
