2027 Grammy Awards Date Announced as Ceremony Moves to ABC

The Grammy Awards are officially moving into their new Disney era, returning to Disney’s ABC network for the first time since the 1970s.

ABC to Air 2027 Grammy Awards After Decades on CBS

The 69th Annual Grammy Awards will air on Sunday, February 7, 2027, from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

The ceremony will be broadcast on ABC and stream live on Hulu and Disney+, marking the first time the awards show has aired on ABC since 1972.

The date was announced during Disney’s Upfront presentation in New York City, where the company highlighted several major live events coming to its platforms, including several major football events following Disney’s acquisition of the NFL Network.

The 2027 ceremony will be the first under Disney’s 10-year agreement with the Recording Academy, which was first announced in late 2024. CBS had been the longtime home of the Grammys for more than five decades.

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said the organization is entering a new chapter with the move, teasing that the transition to a new broadcast home is only the beginning.

“The Grammys are all about celebrating the music that moves the world, and this moment is built on exactly that … This is an exciting time for us as an organization — a new home and a bold new chapter for the Grammys Awards. We’re just getting started, and the best is yet to come.”

The previous ceremony, the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, included several major milestones. Bad Bunny won Album of the Year for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” making it the first Spanish-language album to receive the honor. Kendrick Lamar won Record of the Year for “Luther,” becoming the first male artist and first rapper to win the category in consecutive years. Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell also won Song of the Year for “Wildflower,” adding another major Grammy achievement to their careers.

The Recording Academy also shared the major dates leading up to the 2027 ceremony:

  • August 31, 2025 – August 28, 2026: Product eligibility period
  • June 25 – August 14, 2026: Media company registration period
  • July 7 – August 21, 2026: Online entry period
  • October 12 – 22, 2026: First-round voting
  • November 16, 2026: Nominations announced
  • December 10, 2026 – January 7, 2027: Final-round voting
  • February 7, 2027: 69th Annual Grammy Awards

The move continues Disney’s push to make ABC, Hulu, and Disney+ central homes for major awards shows and live events. Earlier this month, rumors began circulating that internal discussions at the Company may be looking into consolidating their various networks and platforms into a single, all-encompassing “super app”.
