In their Q2 reports, Disney stated have multiple experience expansions underway, including a new cruise ship in Japan and Disneyland Abu Dhabi.

They are using a capital-light model for this project, which is basically when they grow without spending much of their own money. They do this by teaming up with companies that already know the local market to help develop these projects.

To make Disneyland Abu Dhabi a reality, Disney is teaming up with Miral, a UAE-based entertainment company behind some of Yas Island’s most iconic attractions, like Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World.

Disneyland Abu Dhabi is being developed through a licensing agreement with Miral. Miral will fully finance, build, and operate the park, while Disney provides its intellectual property and creative oversight, earning revenue through licensing fees and royalties without investing its own capital.

The strategic logic of our Abu Dhabi plans is unchanged. Major new theme parks are necessarily long term in nature given the lead time of these projects, and this investment approach has consistently benefited our business.
