First Disney Store Limited Time Location Opening This Week

As Disney continues experimenting with smaller-scale retail concepts, the Disney Store is becoming a little easier to find in person.

Disney Store is returning to the mall in a new format with the debut of Disney Store Limited Time, a temporary brick-and-mortar retail concept launching in partnership with Go! Retail Group.

The first location is scheduled to open on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Ross Park Mall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The shop will be located on the mall’s upper level near J. Crew.

A second Disney Store Limited Time location is planned for Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus, New Jersey, with an opening expected sometime this fall.

Disney has not announced an exact timeline for either store’s operating period, but USA Today has reported that both stores are expected to remain open until some time after the 2026 holiday season.

As we first covered for the announcement last month, the new Disney Store concept is designed to bring Disney Store merchandise and in-person shopping experiences to select U.S. cities for a limited period. Guests can expect Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars items, including toys, apparel, and other products typically expected of past and existing Disney stores.

Disney previously described the locations as featuring Disney Store-style elements such as opening ceremonies, themed in-store design, and select merchandise available through Disney Store.

Fans will recall that the Disney Store was once a distinct retail chain and a major presence in shopping malls across the country. However, the company has sharply reduced its physical retail footprint over the years.

Disney previously operated over 700 retail locations globally at the store’s peak in 1999, while the current lineup of stores comprises a mere fraction of that number, with only a handful still in operation domestically.

The Disney Store Limited Time rollout suggests a new approach to physical retail for the company, using temporary locations to drive a sense of demand and urgency for potential customers around the country.

Alternatively, it’s possible this could be Disney testing the waters for the viability of a retail return now that we’re several years removed from both the broad closure of original Disney Store locations and the economic slump of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other metrics within the company certainly suggest that consumer sentiment remains high and is projected to stay that way for some time to come.
