FIRST LOOK: Brand New Disney Store in U.S. with Walt Disney World Items

A bit of Disney magic is returning to the two lucky malls — but only for a limited time.

Disney Bringing In-Person Disney Store Back to Select Malls

The first Disney Store Limited Time location opened on Saturday, May 23, at Ross Park Mall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The new retail concept is being launched in collaboration with Go! Retail Group and is designed as a temporary, in-person Disney Store experience featuring merchandise from Disney Parks, franchises, characters, and stories.

A second Disney Store Limited Time location is planned for Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey, this fall. Both locations are expected to remain open through the holiday season.

According to a Disney spokesperson, guests visiting the Ross Park Mall store can expect “surprise and delight” moments during the grand opening, along with special merchandise including an exclusive Pittsburgh-inspired tee designed for local fans.

Disney has described the concept as a way to bring the Disney Store experience back into physical retail spaces with immersive designs, opening ceremonies, and products found exclusively through Disney Store.

Preview photos from inside the temporary shopping space show bright, modern retail furnishings with light wood flooring, white display shelving, and teal accent walls. The main counter area features a large “Disney Store Limited Time” logo as we’ve seen through the original announcement, with Tinker Bell flying above the wordmark. Silhouettes of Mickey, Olaf, Cinederella, and other characters appear in a diamond-patterned mural behind the counter, while the front of the register reads “Magic Is Here.”

The products are largely organized by franchise and age group. The store also brings back the Disney Store tradition of collectible keys, an exclusive hallmark of store locations in the past.

Looking around the store, we see one wall is dedicated to Marvel merchandise, with a large mural-style graphic above the display showing Hulk, Captain America, and other Marvel heroes. The section includes Spider-Man apparel, red-and-blue Spider-Man accessories, Captain America-themed items, Hulk products, backpacks, and toys. In the center of the store, we can see a large circular display hosting a wide range of Disney plush characters including Stitch, Angel, Pua, and Meilin from Pixar’s Turning Red.

Another photo shows a Disney Princess section with dolls, dress-up costumes, and accessories. A mural above the display features several heroines, including Belle, Moana, and Mulan. The shelving below includes boxed dolls, princess costumes in pink, blue, yellow, and magenta, and themed bags. A vertical panel beside the display includes a themed mirror with Mickey and Pluto making appearances, alongside text that reads “Limited Time. Unlimited Magic.” and features Mickey Mouse artwork. Nearby displays also include Star Wars items, with Darth Vader and stormtrooper graphics visible on wall art and merchandise.

The Star Wars section prominently features The Mandalorian and Grogu, suggesting that these stores may evolve during their tenure to include merchandise promoting the latest Disney film or streaming releases. A central display includes Grogu plush, action figures, boxed collectibles, and apparel, with a child mannequin wearing a black “Bounty Hunter” shirt featuring Grogu. An adult mannequin nearby wears a black Mythosaur skull shirt. Additional Star Wars apparel and accessories are displayed along the walls, including orange and black shirts, themed backpacks, toys, and other collectibles.

The store also carries a wide selection of smaller Disney Store items and accessories. A wall near the register is filled with character mugs and drinkware, including designs inspired by Mickey Mouse, Stitch, Pixar characters, and Disney Princesses. Shelves also appear to include Minnie ear headbands, small toys, keychains, pins, plush items, and other impulse-buy merchandise arranged around the checkout area. And yes, some Walt Disney World merchandise has made it to the location as well.

The far end of the store features a dynamic display styled like a glass-paneled door with a peach-colored frame and accents situated above two small steps. The green-colored “glass” of the door appears to be a screen or projection surface, where the silhouettes of several Disney characters will occasionally appear as if strolling by the other side of the door. The bottom of the dynamic doorway fittingly reads “Characters Only”. In these preview photos, we can spot the White Rabbit, Woody, Maleficent and her raven, Diablo.

We also got a look at the new Pittsburgh shirt exclusive to this store. Some Disney Store locations in the past, namely international stores and flagship locations such as New York City, tend to carry location or regional-specific products, and it looks like these Disney Store Limited Time venues will continue this offering.

The shirt’s design features a white base color with a black-and-gold Pittsburgh souvenir-style graphic. At the top, “Hello From Pittsburgh” is printed in black with “Pittsburgh” in large gold-outlined cursive lettering. Below it, the main graphic appears to be a stylized map of Pittsburgh or the Pittsburgh area, shaped around the city’s geography and labeled with the Ohio, Allegheny, and Monongahela Rivers.

The design includes several local landmarks and cultural icons associated with Pittsburgh, and a Mickey emblem labeled “Pennsylvania U.S.A.” is shown as if stamped along the bottom. Mickey himself stands along the right side of the map in his classic look.

Disney Store Limited Time marks a notable return to mall-based Disney shopping after the closure of many traditional Disney Store locations in recent years. While Disney has not announced a permanent return of full Disney Store locations, the Ross Park Mall opening gives fans a new in-person option to browse Disney merchandise outside the parks and beyond online shopping – at least through the 2026 holiday season.

The next location in New Jersey is expected to open sometime this fall.

As we first covered for the announcement last month, the new Disney Store concept is designed to bring Disney Store merchandise and in-person shopping experiences to select U.S. cities for a limited period. Guests can expect Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars items, including toys, apparel, and other products typically expected of past and existing Disney stores.

Other metrics within the company certainly suggest that consumer sentiment remains high and is projected to stay that way for some time to come.
