The fourth Magic Kingdom ferryboat is now under construction backstage near the Disney theme park.
Magic Kingdom Ferryboat Construction

Aerial photographer @bioreconstruct confirmed that pieces of the new boat have arrived at Walt Disney World. The ferry being assembled is on the left in the photo above. Sections of the hull were transported by truck and welded together.

Compare to the existing ferryboat docked in the water alongside the Liberty Belle — the Magic Kingdom riverboat that left service last summer.
When Disney announced the ferryboat, they said it had been going through the design and building process at a Florida marina before it would be shipped in pieces to Walt Disney World. It will take another year to assemble the pieces, paint, and add final touches.

Bioreconstruct posits that, after the hull is finished, the crew will transport it “by rail to Bay Lake for a floatation test.”

The new ferryboat is named after Meg Gilbert Crofton, Walt Disney World’s fourth president. The existing boats are named the Admiral Joe Fowler, the General Joe Potter, and the Richard F. Irvine.

“I was humbled to learn that my name would be on this new ferryboat,” said Crofton. “It means so much to be recognized by the cast members I had the privilege of working with for so many years.”
We first reported on rumors of a fourth ferryboat back in 2024. It will hopefully help with crowd control after Magic Kingdom opens the Piston Peak National Park and Disney Villains land expansions.
