Ceiling Work Complete in Disney’s Contemporary Resort Grand Canyon Concourse

Construction work in the Grand Canyon Concourse of Disney’s Contemporary Resort has reached another milestone, as the protective netting and scrims previously covering a section of the ceiling have now been removed.

Ceiling Work Update at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Looking up from the resort’s Grand Canyon Concourse, guests can once again see the full ceiling above, unobstructed.

Previously, a section of ceiling tiles had been removed near the iconic Mary Blair mural and above Fantasia Market. Black scrims concealed the work area and exposed steel beams and openings in the ceiling.

Now, those scrims and netting have been removed entirely.

The restored section blends seamlessly with the surrounding ceiling, with rows of skylights once again stretching across without any visible construction barriers. Natural light pours into the space through the large overhead windows, restoring the open and airy feeling that has long defined Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

While no official details have been released regarding the specific work performed above the ceiling, the removal of the scrims suggests this phase of the project has been completed.

Ceiling work began in late 2025 when crews first removed tiles and installed black scrims in the atrium.
