As announced by the Hollywood Reporter, Chris Sanders, known for voicing Stitch and co-creating the original Lilo & Stitch film, will direct Lilo & Stitch 2.
Chris Sanders Directing Lilo & Stitch 2
Chris Sanders, who co-created, co-wrote, and co-directed the original animated Lilo & Stitch film, and voiced Stitch in both the animated and live-action movies, will now be directing Lilo & Stitch 2, the sequel to the live-action Lilo & Stitch film (2025). We previously reported that Sanders is also writing Lilo & Stitch 2.
The live-action Lilo & Stitch was directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell With Shoes On) and written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes. Jonathan Eirich, who produced the live-action remake, also returns as producer for the sequel. Ryan Halprin will be executive producer.
Lilo & Stitch 2 has been in development since June 2025 and will release in theaters on May 26, 2028. The sequel will be a brand-new story.
