Disney has shared the release date for Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, the fifth film in the franchise. The first trailer also shows Red and Chloe taking on Maddox Hatter.

Descendants: Wicked Wonderland will debut on July 16 on Disney Channel and stream the next day on Disney+. The original soundtrack will also be available on July 17.

Set primarily in present-day Wonderland, the film addresses the warning from the previous movie: there are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.

In this first look, Red and Chloe hide their most dangerous secret – the time-traveling pocket watch – inside the Royal Vault, unaware that a new threat is emerging. Lurking in the shadows is Maddox Hatter, now a ruthless villain determined to uncover the pocket watch’s whereabouts to bend time – and the fate of Wonderland – to his will.

Now that the Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora) is nice and Cinderella (Brandy) is safe, things seem perfect for Red (Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe (Malia Baker) … but little do they know that changing the past created a new villain: Maddox Hatter (Leonardo Nam). When Maddox captures the Queen of Hearts, Red and Chloe must work with Red’s new sister Pink (Liamani Segura), Luisa Madrigal’s son Luis (Alexandro Byrd), Captain Hook’s daughter Hazel (Kiara Romero), and Maddox’s son Max (Brendon Tremblay) to save her and Wonderland.

In addition to the films, the Descendants franchise also includes multiple television titles, including an animated spinoff and prequel spinoff show.

A display themed to the upcoming film, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, has recently been installed in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure.
