Ahead of the film’s release later this month, we got a first look at another character returning for Toy Story 5: Emily, Jessie’s original owner.
Emily Returning in Toy Story 5

In videos circulating online today, Jessie and Emily can be seen in a newly redesigned flashback scene.

First shown in Toy Story 2, the flashback scene, famously known for Sarah McLachlan’s “When She Loved Me” song, describes how Jessie was owned by a girl named Emily until Emily grew up and gave her away. The scene appears to be digitally enhanced for Toy Story 5.

The latest film in the Toy Story franchise involves Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the gang being challenged when “they’re introduced to what kids are obsessed with today… electronics!”
Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack return for their respective roles as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie. New characters Lilypad (Greta Lee) and Smarty Pants (Conan O’Brien) also join the cast.
Ernie Hudson is taking over as Combat Carl from the late Carl Weathers. Blake Clark is expected to return as Slinky Dog, a role he took over from Jim Varney, who passed away in 2000. We also learned that Alan Cumming voices Evil Bullseye and Bad Bunny voices Pizza with Sunglasses.
Theater novelties have already been announced, and pre-orders were released today for Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” collector’s edition vinyl.
Toy Story 5 releases in theaters on June 19, 2026. Watch the final trailer below:
